J.L. Bach: Mache dich auf, werde licht. Cantatas |
| CV 83.186/00 | | | | Johann Ludwig Bach was – next to Johann Bernhard – the most musically accomplished cousin of Johann Sebastian Bach. In 1711 he became Court Music Director at the Court of Meiningen, and he remained in this position for twenty years, until his death in 1731. 22 sacred cantatas by Johann Ludwig Bach have been handed down in copies made by J. S. Bach, who prepared them in 1726 for use in worship services in Leipzig. On this CD, „Mache dich auf, werde licht“ Hermann Max presents four of these cantatas. | | | | | | | | Musicweb-international: Recording of the month 10/06 | | | | Conductor: | Hermann Max | | Ensemble: | Das kleine Konzert | | Ensemble: | Jugendkantorei Dormagen8, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30 | | Soloist - soprano: | Barbara Schlick2, 4, 7, 13, 14, 18, 19, 28, 29 | | Soloist - alto: | Mary Nichols3, 6, 7, 11, 15, 20, 25, 26 | | Soloist - tenor: | Wilfried Jochens2, 5, 7, 10, 11, 20, 27 | | Soloist - bass: | Stephen Varcoe1, 7, 9, 12, 21, 22, 27 |
