Many renowned German-speaking singers – amongst others, Jonas Kaufmann, Angelika Kirchschlager and Christoph Prégardien – and ensembles have
recorded their Christmas carol exclusively for the song project. The recordings are presented in two lavishly equipped CD boxes with elaborate illustrated
booklets. All the singers, as well as their accompanists, made current recordings of their songs without remuneration. For every CD sold, 2 EUR can in
turn be donated to projects which promote singing with children.

The repertoire of this four-voice choral collection ranges from the Baroque via the Romantic era to modern choral music.
New settings of well-known Christmas songs have been especially composed for this collection.
Many renowned composers contributed to this choral collection. A special attraction is the fact that, from an international perspective,
a number of traditional German songs were arranged by composers from Poland, Denmark, England, Japan, South America, Italy, the Nethelands and Lithuania.
Around forty lieder were expressly arranged for the collection.
Many of the contemporary arrangements draw on jazz and swing styles, or on pop music.
The repertoire is suitable for Advent, Christmas, the New Year and Epiphany.

Ab dem 1. Dezember 2012 wird u. a. im SWR jeden Tag ein Weihnachtslied gesendet. Zu diesem musikalischen Adventskalender erscheint auch ein gedruckter Adventskalender.
Der WEIHNACHTSLIEDER-KALENDER zum Aufstellen (Tischkalender) präsentiert auf 31 Blättern für jeden Tag der Advents- und Weihnachtszeit ein ausgewähltes Lied mit Text und Noten, parallel zu den
Weihnachtslieder-Sendungen im Radio, illustriert jeweils durch ein Bild von Frank Walka. Ein QR-Code bei jedem Lied leitet zur Audiodatei der Mitsingfassung. Die Liedauswahl ist auf die Sendefolge
in SWR2 und ggf. weiteren Kultursendern abgestimmt.
