The city of Magdeburg honors Carus with the Georg Philipp Telemann Prize 2009

In 2009 the city of Magdeburg, the birthplace of George Philipp Teleman (1681–1767), will honor Carus-Verlag, Stuttgart, with the Georg Philipp Telemann Prize. Dr. Lutz Trümper, Lord Mayor of Magdeburg, will present the award to Carus on 1 March 2009. This award is being bestowed upon Carus-Verlag for its service to the dissemination and publication of the works of Telemann through their series of editions entitled "Telemann-Archiv - Stuttgarter Ausgaben," which now numbers more than 100 works. The primary focus of these editions is Telemann's church music, and in this respect Carus-Verlag is one of the few specialized music publishers which has, from early on, been devoted to publishing them in a special series. The Carus Telemann program also includes a selection of instrumental works as well as an ever-growing selection of compact discs.

The Georg Philipp Telemann Prize is awarded annually by the city of Magdeburg for outstanding contributions to the study, interpretation, and cultivation of the works of Georg Philipp Telemann. It is endowed with an award of 2,500 Euro.
