Choral music for Ascension

72 Artikel
Forty days after Easter, Christians celebrate the Feast of the Ascension of Christ. This is often celebrated with processions or the Ascension is even portrayed by the hoisting up of a figure of Christ in the church. Christ’s “accession to the throne” has been set to music in ceremonial fashion by many composers throughout the history of music. It is often magnificent or celebratory, as in Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Ascension Oratorio”. As well as more extensive works, you’ll also find choral editions of many smaller-scale works in the Carus catalog which will help you to program a varied festive church service or a concert.
