Choral music for Corpus Christi

86 Artikel
The Catholic church always celebrates the Feast of Corpus Christi (Fronleichnam in German) on the 2nd Thursday after Whitsun. In English and other languages the feast is called “Corpus Christi”. It relates in content to Maundy Thursday, and celebrates the institution of the Eucharist, in particular in the traditional Corpus Christi procession. Thomas Aquinas wrote some of his best-known hymns for the liturgy of this Feast, which characterize it to the present day: Panis angelicus, Pange lingua (Tantum ergo), Adoro te devote, Verbum supernum prodiens, and the sequence Lauda Sion.
