Although Mozart’s earliest Lieder date from his boyhood, most of his approximately thirty Lieder were composed during his years in Vienna. Many of them were written for publication in almanacs and song collections or for his circle of friends. The texts range from sentimental verse found in popular novels and instructive poetry by contemporary Viennese and north-German writers to patriotic ditties, which refer to current political events, especially the war with the Turks.

Almost 270 years following its completion, for the first time the Ochsenhauser Orgelbuch, a unique collection of organ music from southern Germany, will be published and thus made accessible to the music world. In honor of the completion of the restoration of the Gabler organ in Ochsenhausen this important, with its wonderful color illustrations, has been published in a high-quality limited two-volume edition.

Besides the Christmas Oratorio BVW 248, Bach composed an additional work for the feast days of the church year 1734/35: the Ascension Oratorio BWV 11. Although in its dimensions and character the oratorio is akin to his cantatas, it occupies a special place as a result of the epic text on which it is based; the text includes a biblical story. The facsimile edition, which includes introductory texts by two famous Bach scholars, presents the complete 32 pages of the autograph, which itself suffered damage through the ink corrosion. It serves to preserve this valuable cultural treasure.

In 2009 the Staatsbibilothek zu Berlin succeeded in obtaining an important autograph of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy from a private owner. In the spring of 1837 he composed his four Quartets for Men's choir a cappella, whose texts were written by Goethe and Heine. In the autograph the lied "Dreistigkeit" is in a version unknown until now. It is published here for the first time. The present edition, published in cooperation with the Staatsbibliothek, presents all four of the pieces in high quality color facsimiles, as well as in a modern engraved edition.
