For many older people hymns are a part of early childhood experiences, their texts and melodies accompany them throughout their whole lifes. Even when in advanced age or in sickness the memories fade, the old melodies and texts are not lost; through hearing or singing they may again be retrieved and can thus form a bridge to the present. Under the motto “Singing for all ages” Carus is publishing an illustrated songbook (incl. a singalong CD) in large print, a piano accompaniment book with easy settings (also in large print), as well as a CD Box with all 95 hymns, performed by six prominent singers.

This unique collection of 42 of the most beautiful German lullabies reveals the richness of our musical heritage: From folk songs to simple art songs, with sheet music, lyrics and guitar chords, all set in child-friendly vocal ranges. A recording of each song with piano and violin can be accessed digitally via QR code to get to know the works and to sing along.
The painter Frank Walka has created wonderfully imaginative illustrations to accompany the collection. His large-format pictures are as diverse as the songs themselves – dream-like, funny, serious or realistic – turning this songbook into an enchanting picture book.

Mit dem 2009 initiierten WIEGENLIEDER-Projekt konnte Carus für das Thema Singen mit Kindern eine breite Öffentlichkeit herstellen. Viele der überlieferten Lieder haben bei Eltern, Großeltern und Musikinteressierten ein neues Interesse geweckt. Das VOLKSLIEDER-Projekt führt diese Idee weiter.

Die Sammlung mit 77 der schönsten deutschen Volkslieder lädt ein, die Schönheit der Melodien und der Poesie der alten Liedtexte neu zu entdecken. Die Auswahl enthält viele bekannte Klassiker wie Der Mai ist gekommen, Die Gedanken sind frei oder Das Wandern ist des Müllers Lust, aber auch unbekanntere Lieder. Zugleich möchte das Volkslieder-Projekt zum Singen und Musizieren mit Kindern anregen. Daher sind auch Lieder mit dabei, die ganz besonders Kinder ansprechen wie Heut kommt der Hans zu mir, freut sich die Lies oder Bruder Jakob.

Den Noten im Liederbuch sind Akkordsymbole zum Spiel an Klavier oder Gitarre beigegeben. Die beiliegende Mitsing-CD dient dem Kennenlernen der Lieder und ermutigt zum Mitsingen.

Für die VOLKSLIEDER hat der Illustrator Christoph Mett 20 doppelseitige, farbige Bilder gestaltet und zu jedem Lied eine passende Vignette entworfen. Seine Bilder laden dazu ein, sich auf einer weiteren, visuellen Ebene den Liedern zu nähern.

Was singen Europas Kinder? Das Liederbuch vereint 58 Lieder aus allen Regionen Europas, mit einem Schwerpunkt auf deutsch- und englischsprachigen Liedern – Spiellieder, Tierlieder, Jahreszeitenlieder, Lieder zu Festen und Feiern. Alle Lieder liegen mit singbarer deutscher Übersetzung vor, bei der Begleitung helfen einfache Akkordsymbole über den Noten. Dabei wurde besonders auf kindgerechte Tonarten geachtet. Eine instrumentale Mitsing-CD zum Kennenlernen und Mitsingen liegt dem Buch bei.

Eine weitere Besonderheit an diesem Liederbuch, welches im LIEDERPROJEKT erscheint, sind die Bilder: Der gefragte Berliner Fotograf Jan von Holleben erarbeitete gemeinsam mit Kindern zu jedem Lied eine Illustration.
