Campra: Messe de Requiem

Description

The "Messe de Requiem" is one of André Campra’s (1660-1744) best-known works and was performed especially during the 18th century at important funerals and memorial services. Despite the serious subject, the tenor is neither bleak nor filled with pain but solemnly sublime. Also in the grand motet "De profundis" Campra, by means of ever newer pictorial-musical representations, leads us step by step from grief to eternal bliss, thus demonstrating his theatrical abilities. ensemble3 – which grew out of the “Internationale Chorakademie im Dreiländereck” – has, under the musical direction of Hans Michael Beuerle, recorded two of the most important works of the French Baroque.

...the performances are excellent. It’s a very musical period group, well conducted by Hans Michael Beuerle.
Reynolds, americanrecordguide.com, 26.9.2016

Hans Michael Beuerle zeichnet Campras Musik in weichen, fließenden Linien nach.
Andreas Friesenhagen, Concerto, September/Oktober 2016

September 2016

Under the direction of Hans Michael Beuerle, his group of excellent soloists and chorus brings out the passages of awe-inspiring lyricism with real assurance ...
MusicWeb International, Michael Cookson, August 2016

The choir is honeytoned and luminous, and the soloists are uniformly compelling. [...] The small band plays subtly [...] and trills are pointed elegantly.
David Vickers, Gramophone, August 2016

Das Werk mündet in requiem-ungewohnte, jubelnden Töne, die das ensemble3 unter Hans Michael Beuerle mit leichter Hand umsetzt.
