En accord avec l’occasion victorieuse, Händel écrit souvent le chœur à cinq voix (deux parties de soprano) et homophone. Un effet solennel et impressionnant est obtenu quand le chœur chante ses interpellations en bloc. Pour commencer sur la bonne note, il est important de bien connaître les petits intermèdes de l’orchestre. Les mouvements cantabile comme le n° 3 ne sont pas vraiment faciles : les sauts de ces passages exigeants pour les sopranos du chœur sont bien plus aisés à acquérir si on peut écouter l’harmonie quand on travaille. Il en est de même pour le n° 5.

In the depth of its expression and richness of form Johann Sebastian Bach's music has no equal. This becomes especially clear in the famous cantatas for solo soprano, as can be heard in this recording, featuring “Ich bin in mir vergnügt” BWV 204 and “Mein Herze schwimmt in Blut” BWV 199 (Weimar version, 1714). The recording is rounded off by a performance of the famous soprano aria “Alles mit Gott und nichts ohn' ihn” BWV 1127. Once again Dorothee Mields shows that she is one of the leading interpreters of our time for the music of the 17th and 18th centuries. Performed with L’Orfeo Barockorchester, under the direction of Michi Gaigg, this is an exemplary interpretation of these seldom heard solo cantatas.

Lorsque le 12 mai 1764 Wilhelm Friedemann Bach démissionna de son poste de directeur de la musique et organiste à Halle, une page de l'histoire de la ville se tourna définitivement. Depuis Samuel Scheidt, le poste d'organiste de la Marktkirche avait toujours été occupé par des virtuoses et compositeurs d'exception, et W. F. Bach fut le dernier de ce rang. Ses quelques vingt cantates conservées constituent un répertoire très peu exploité, en beaucoup de points inégalé. Elles sont des tentatives exceptionnelles et individuelles de poursuivre et développer l'œuvre du père, maître et modèle. This work, representative of the high standard of the whole series, was awarded the German Record Critics’ Award in 2016. Even today, Protestant church music has been strongly characterized by Johann Sebastian Bach. The "musical preacher" allows the listener to understand both emotionally and rationally the theological message entirely in the spirit of Martin Luther. Therefore, it is is fitting that in 2017 the newly released recording of the Gaechinger Cantorey under the direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann reflects the Reformation in full: The cantata Gott, der Herr, ist Sonn und Schild was written for Reformation Day in 1725; the "Lutheran" Mass BWV 236 musically draws to individual parts of the cantata; and the chorale cantata Erhalt uns, Herr, bei deinem Wort is based on a hymn written by the Reformer.

At the same time, the CD also characterizes the new direction of the Gaechinger Cantorey: For its second CD recording under the direction of Rademann, the choir is accompanied by the Cantorey’s own newly formed baroque orchestra. The CD also features the first recording of a chest organ, commissioned by the Bachakademie, that is a replica from the the organ workshop of the legendary Gottfried Silbermann, a contemporary of Bach.

The Lieder project is a co-operative charitable project between SWR2 (Southwest German Broadcasting Company), Carus, over 100 performing artists and now more than 300 children. Following the highly successful "Lullabies" ("Wiegenlieder", 2009) and "Folk songs" ("Volkslieder", 2010), SWR2 and Carus have now turned to the German "Children's songs" ("Kinderlieder"). All of the recordings are being released successively as lieder collections in 3 attractive CD boxes. Each box includes a comprehensive book, with lied texts, source information, and short biographies of the singers and their accompanists. With a colorful combination of child soloists, children's choirs, concert singers and instrumental ensembles, this CD will make not only children want to sing.

In 2008 the concert and opera singer Cornelius Hauptmann initiated the charitable "The Lieder project" to further singing with children. The following year the "Wiegenlieder" (lullaby) collection was published. Once again, more than 50 singers have voluntarily, without remuneration, given their voices to sing the most beautiful German folk songs. This project will be continued with two further collections of children’s songs and songs for Christmas. The present collection of the most beautiful German folk songs is sung by leading concert and opera singers, choirs and children. The CD includes an extensive booklet with colour illustrations and song texts with English translations.

La cantate Gott der Herr ist Sonn und Schild a très probablement été jouée pour la première fois pour la fête de la Réformation (31 octobre) en 1725. Le chœur d’ouverture recèle quelques défis avec les entrées en imitation des différentes voix et un mouvement en fugue dans lequel il faut bien maîtriser sa partie pour arriver à suivre. Au plus tard à partir de "Er wird kein Gutes mangeln lassen", le coach est aussi intéressant en mode ralenti pour ne pas se faire surprendre par les valeurs de note courtes et la répartition parfois inattendue du texte.

Under the general direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann Carus will realize the first recording of the complete works of Heinrich Schutz by 2017. With a total of 22 CDs and countless concerts the first German composer of European statue will be given a tangible monument. The Kleine geistliche Konzerte, Part 1 is volume 7 of the series and the first of the CDs within the complete recording that present solo concertos by Schutz. Pur plaisir auditif: Aucun autre compositeur qu'Henry Purcell ne sut si génialement et sensiblement mettre en musique la langue anglaise. Dorothee Mields et la Lautten Compagney sous la direction de Wolfgang Katschner ont réuni quelques lieder et chansons sur le thème de l'amour et ses différentes facettes : on y trouve l'expression de l'ébullition heureuse et turbulente des sentiments aussi bien que de la lamentation plaintive. La majorité des pièces de ce CD proviennent de musiques de scène, que Purcell créa entre 1680 et 1695 pour les théâtres londoniens.

"Love's Madness" is the second CD featuring works of Henry Purcell with the soprano Dorothee Mields and the Lautten Compagney Berlin, under the direction of Wolfgang Katschner. Following the successful "Love Songs" CD (2010), in which the sensuality of love was the focus, "Love's Madness" is concerned with the painfulness of love's delirium. Musically, in so-called "mad songs" love's delirium was expressed effectively, rich with contrasts. Whereas the roots of "mad songs" rests in the tradition of the English folk song and mad songs were already found in some of Shakespeare's works, the actual development of this type began with Henry Purcell's music for the stage, especially his ballad "Bess of Bedlam," which today still is regarded as the prototype for the "mad song."

En plus de la Messe en si mineur, Bach a écrit quatre autres messes moins importantes. Malgré leur grande qualité musicale, elles restent souvent dans l’ombre d’autres œuvres de musique sacrée de Bach. Écrites en six mouvements, elles avaient un rôle liturgique spécifique dans le service religieux à l’époque de Bach. Leur niveau de difficulté ne doit pas être sous-estimé : pour ne pas se perdre après le début solennel et lent dans le « Cum Sancto Spiritu », il faut être sûr de ses notes pour arriver à suivre ensuite dans le « in gloria Dei Patris ».

On the CD Musicalischer Seelen-Frieden Dorothee Mields and the ensemble Hamburger Ratsmusik present several of the most beautiful solo cantatas of the baroque composer Johann Philipp Krieger. Krieger understood how to unite French and Italian elements of style in his music and thus as a composer he was an important role model for the generation in which Bach and Telemann were active. His altogether twenty sacred concertos from the collection "Musikalischer Seelen-Friede", the only edition of Krieger’s sacred music, which was printed in 1990 and 1996, are among the most important contributions to this important genre in his time. Four of these concertos are recorded here for the first time. Some of his most important trios sonatas for violin, viola and basso continuo round out the CD.

Together with Carus-Verlag Stuttgart, under the overall direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann the Dresdner Kammerchor will realize the first complete recording of the works of Heinrich Schütz by 2017. As part 3, the “Musikalische Exequien,” which Schütz composed in 1635/36 for the funeral of his Sovereign Heinrich Posthumus Reuss, will now be released. Further songs of mourning, some for solo voices, round out the CD. Included among these are works which have never been recorded before. In addition to the Dresdner Kammerchor, among others, Dorothee Mields, Harry van der Kamp and Jan Kobow could be engaged for the recording of the complete works. A coproduction with MDR KULTUR.
