Klaus-Martin Bresgott was born 1967 in Greifswald and initially studied Protestant theology, later German language and literature and art history (M. A.), parallel thereto choral conducting. Contracts as an ensemble singer led him to the most notable concert venues in Europe under conductors such as René Jacobs, Marcus Creed, Daniel Reuss, Hans-Christoph Rademann and Fabio Luisi, and directors such as Sasha Waltz, Luc Perceval, Barrie Kosky and others. His main focus is on ensemble work that spans epochs and interdisciplinary contexts. This has led to a regular co-operation with composers and poets of our time such as Thomas Jennefelt and Frank Schwemmer as well as Christa Wolf (†) and Christian Lehnert. As well as works on art history, including Ernst Barlach, he has edited several books of choral music, including Frau Musica spricht. The Leipzig chamber choir Kammerchor Josquin des Préz has been acclaimed by press and public alike for its exceptional musical sensitivity and sense of style. The ensemble has enthused audiences through its blended, powerful and well-balanced choral sound, as well as the excellent quality of the individual voices. Founded in Leipzig in 1987, the Kammerchor Josquin des Préz has given over 400 concerts to date and has established a reputation as one of the leading early music ensembles. Four conductors have shaped its musical development: Raik Fischer (1987–89), Steffen Kammler (1989– 97), Uwe Witzel (1997–2002), and Ludwig Böhme, who has been artistic director since 2002. Under Böhme’s direction the choir launched “Josquin – Das Projekt” – a unique project worldwide to perform the complete works of Josquin des Préz. Since 2004 regular concerts have taken place in St. Thomas’s Church, Leipzig, examining Josquin’s works in the light of their relationship to musical developments of all subsequent eras. “Josquin – Das Projekt” is now a firm fixture in the Leipzig concert cal - endar, and the chamber choir is one of the leading ensembles of its kind in the music city of Leipzig. Although principally an a cappella ensemble, the choir also performs regularly with instrumental ensembles, most recently in November 2009 in an acclaimed performance of Claudio Monteverdi’s Marienvesper and in April 2010 in a live broadcast of Bach’s Easter Oratorio on Deutschlandradio Kultur. The Kammerchor Josquin des Préz has won prizes in competitions, most recently with “outstanding success” and a 2nd prize in the 8th Deutscher Chorwettbewerb 2010 in Dortmund, where it also won a special prize for the best program in the competition. This was preceded by winning the 5th Sächsischer Chorwettbewerb in June 2009. Numerous tours have taken the singers throughout both eastern and western Europe. They are popular guest artists at festivals such as the MDR Musiksommer, Kultursommer Rheinland-Pfalz, and the Bach Festival Leipzig. The ensemble has been chosen by the Goethe-Institut as cultural ambas - sadors for Germany, travelling in this role to Albania in 2006. Radio broadcasts on MDR, WDR and DRadio Kultur together with CD recordings, in - cluding the rarely-heard Penitential Psalms by Orlando di Lasso, illustrate the group’s high artistic quality. Ludwig Böhme est directeur artistique du chœur de garçons de Windsbach depuis 2022. Il a passé son enfance au sein du chœur Saint-Thomas de Leipzig, puis a étudié la direction chorale à l'École supérieure de musique et de théâtre de Leipzig. En 1999, il a fondé l'ensemble Calmus avec d'autres anciens membres du chœur Saint-Thomas. Pendant 23 ans, il a été baryton et tête créative du quintette de Leipzig, qui, sous sa direction, est devenu un groupe vocal de renommée internationale et maintes fois récompensé.
De 2002 à 2022, Ludwig Böhme a dirigé le chœur de chambre Josquin des Préz, avec lequel il a remporté le premier prix du Concours allemand de chant choral en 2018. Böhme a été directeur artistique et initiateur de la série de concerts « Josquin – Das Projekt », la première interprétation complète de l'œuvre de Josquin au monde, qui a débuté en 2004 à l'église Saint-Thomas de Leipzig et s'est achevée avec succès en 2017.
Pendant dix ans, Ludwig Böhme a marqué de son empreinte le Leipziger Synagogalchor, un ensemble maintes fois récompensé qui se consacre exclusivement à la musique synagogale et yiddish. À travers de nombreux projets, allant de la redécouverte d'œuvres chorales symphoniques à des concepts de tolérance, il a contribué à rendre la musique juive plus visible sur la scène chorale.
Il en résulte une activité scénique intense : Böhme a été invité à tous les grands festivals de musique allemands, a donné des concerts dans de nombreux pays européens, en Israël, en Amérique centrale et en Amérique du Sud, et a effectué plus de 30 tournées aux États-Unis et au Canada. Il a notamment travaillé avec l'Orchestre baroque de Fribourg, l'Orchestre de chambre de Bâle, l'Orchestre baroque de Wroclaw, l'Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, la lautten compagney berlin, l'Orchestre philharmonique de Nuremberg, l'Orchestre symphonique MDR ou le HR Bigband. Plus de 30 productions de CD, récompensées entre autres par les prix OPUS et ECHO Klassik ainsi que par plusieurs CARA et Supersonic Awards, témoignent de son œuvre prolifique.
Ludwig Böhme a enseigné la direction d'orchestre aux conservatoires supérieurs de musique de Leipzig, Halle et Bayreuth, il anime des ateliers et des master classes, participe à des jurys et est actif en tant que compositeur et arrangeur. Plus d'information sur la personne
