Kein schöner Land
In this a cappella version, the composer Andreas N. Tarkmann extends the well-known folk song “Kein schöner Land” by adding vocal introductions and interludes (text: Markus Pohlmeyer, 2021). These match the original verses of the song by Anton Wilhelm von Zuccalmaglio both textually and musically. These sections can be sung by a choir, a choral group, or by soloists (ATB). Alternatively, the introductions and interludes can be omitted, so that just the four verses of the song (indicated by numbers) are heard in sequence.
Other versions of “Kein schöner Land” (with instrumental introductions and interludes) by Andreas N. Tarkmann in the LIEDERPROJEKT:
in Carus 2.215 for SATB choir and piano duet
in Carus 2.215/11 for SATB choir and wind quintet
The wind version has been recorded on CD Carus 83.037 with Canadian Brass and the Hanover Boys’ Choir, conducted by Jörg Breiding
