The “Carmina armatoria” (love songs) section is the largest group in the Codex Buranus with 131 texts of varying lengths (texts no. 56-186). “Incipiunt Iubili” (Here the rejoicing begins) is the title at the front in red ink. On the back side (verso) of page 64 in the manuscript, a miniature of a fantastic forest landscape in miniature accompanies these texts.

“Ianus annum circinat” (text no. 56 from the Codex Buranus) is the last song of Perpetuum mobile and begins with a description of the arrival of spring which is typical of the time. The Roman god of beginnings and endings, Janus (Ianus) who is quoted here, is one of the oldest Roman gods. Janus encircles the year; he has the first and the last word. Once again, the miracle of love is invoked, once again there is excited anticipation of the moment when the sun will move into the constellation of Taurus and thus herald the renewal of spring.

The finale is an invitation and a fervent plea to chase away the sadness. The phrase “Omnia vincit Amor: et nos cedamus Amori” comes from Virgil's Eclogues. (Love conquers all things: let us also yield to love).

What does the 13th chapter of 1 Corinthians say? “For now faith, hope, love, these three remain; but the greatest of these is love.” There is nothing more to add.
