Freiburger Vokalensemble

The Freiburger Vokalensemble was founded in 1971 by Wolfgang Schäfer and soon gained an international reputation as a highly-regarded chamber choir. In 1984 the Ensemble won the first prize in the Competition of the Europäische Rundfunkunion. The choir has performed in several world premieres (as at the Donaueschinger Musiktage and in the Alte Oper Frankfurt) and it has made numerous LP and CD recordings (including works by Morales, Telemann, Kreutzer, Brahms and Bruckner). Highlights of its extensive concert schedule include guest appearances, radio and television productions in Berlin, Paris, Rome, Venice, Prague and Beirut, as well as in Scandinavia, Poland, Canada, Israel and East Asia.
