A propos de la personne
The Italian composer and composition teacher Maddalena Casulana also
gave concerts as a singer and lutenist in Venice, Munich, Vienna and
Florence, among other places. She focussed on writing ensemble songs,
which were published in several madrigal volumes between 1566–1586
and are considered to be the earliest printed music by a female composer.
