Michael Čulo studied church music (A-diploma) and singing (Künstlerische Abschlussprüfung) in Rottenburg and Tübingen. Numerous master classes (organ with Almut Rößler and Michel Chapuis, choral conducting with Eric Ericson and Georg Grün, harpsichord and basso continuo with Carsten Lorenz and Alberto Rinaldi) completed his studies. He has won prizes in organ, choral conducting and composition competitions and has received numerous commissions. Čulo was assistant at the Domsingschule in Rottenburg/Neckar from 2004–2007 and assistant at the Stiftskirche Stuttgart (Collegiate Church) and at the Office for Church Music of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Württemberg from 2007–2009, musical assistant at the boys’ choir collegium iuvenum Stuttgart and organ expert of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Württemberg; since April 2009, he has held the post of regional cantor in Nürtingen. Numerous radio, television, video and CD recordings were made, for example, for Rondeau Production and Carus. Concert tours have taken him to neighboring countries, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Norway, India and the USA. Čulo has worked with ensembles such as the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn, the baroque orchestra L’arpa festante and the Sirius Quartet (New York) and conducted premieres at festivals such as the Festival Europäische Kirchenmusik Schwäbisch Gmünd and the Chelsea Music Festival New York. In 2010, he was Music Director of the Lutheran World Federation Eleventh Assembly and is involved as a volunteer in the Verband Evangelische Kirchenmusik in Württemberg e. V., the Verband Stuttgarter Kinder- und Jugendchöre and in committees of the German Protestant Kirchentag. Since August 2013, Čulo has been artistic director of the boys’ choir collegium iuvenum Stuttgart.
