The Italian composer, organist and conductor Vittoria Aleotti received her musical training at the Este court in Ferrara. At the age of 14, she decided to enter the Convent of San Vito in Ferrara, well-known for its musical practice. Later she became prioress. She wrote numerous madrigals and motets.
