Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart
Since August 2013, the Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart has been under the artistic direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann, the director of the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart. Under the patronage of the Bachakademie, the choir plays a decisive role in a wide range of concerts, guest performances and recordings for both radio and CD. The center of the choir’s activities consists, in addition to its manifold activities in the MUSI KFEST UTT GART , of a large concert series with oratorio programs ranging from Schütz to commissioned contemporary works. The interpretation of vocal works by Johann Sebastian Bach has always been a special focus of the choir. The Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart, which is named after a small village in the Swabian Alb and was founded by Helmuth Rilling in 1954, has ranked as one of the outstanding concert choirs of the world for decades. In addition to regular performances with its partner ensemble, the Bach-Collegium Stuttgart, the choir frequently works together with orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic and the Israel Philharmonic. It also has a particularly close relationship with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra of the SWR. The choir is regularly conducted by guest conductors such as Masaaki Suzuki, Krzysztof Penderecki, Alexander Liebreich and Sir Roger Norrington. Guest performances have led the ensemble to, among others, China and Latin America, as well as to the large festivals Salzburg, Lucerne, Prague, New York, Paris, London, Vienna and Seoul. The choir has recorded hundreds of CDs which include Bach’s complete vocal works, diverse 18th century oratorios as well as several world premieres including works by Penderecki, Pärt and Rihm. Daniel Taylor is one of the most sought-after countertenors worldwide. He performs with numerous international ensembles and symphony orchestras. As a recitalist, he has performed in the Konzerthaus Vienna, at the Frick Collection New York, in the Forbidden Concert Hall Beijing, Lufthansa Baroque Festival and Wigmore Hall London. He appeared in Jeremy Podeswa’s prize-winning film Five Senses. As an opera singer he has performed at Glyndebourne (Handel’s Theodora), the Metropolitan Opera New York (Handel’s Giulio Cesare), the Bavarian State Opera (Handel’s Rinaldo), Edinburgh (Gluck’s Orfeo), Welsh National Opera (Handel’s Jephtha) and the Canadian Opera (Handel’s Tolomeo). Daniel Taylor studied literature, music and philosophy before studying completing his exams in music and religious studies at the University of Montreal. Peter Harvey’s hundred or so recordings span eight centuries of music, with the High Baroque particularly well represented. He has performed and recorded all of J. S. Bach’s major vocal works and many of the cantatas. From the French Baroque, he has made many recordings of Campra, Lully, Lalande and others, including a recent solo disc with London Baroque of Rameau’s secular cantatas for bass voice. The Gabrieli Consort’s recording of Haydn’s Creation, on which Peter sings Adam, won the 2008 Gramophone Award. Peter directs the Magdalena Consort, specializing in the performance of the music of Bach with small ensembles. He is increasingly returning to the Lied repertoire, and has recently recorded Schubert’s Die Winterreise with pianist Gary Cooper. Plus d'information sur la personne

Sie zeigt Grandi als Meister großartiger Choreffekte und subtiler Textausdeutung und beeindruckt durch Wärme des Ausdrucks und vielfältige Besetzungen.

Grandis Marienvesper besteht aus Psalmvertonungen und Motetten. Es verbindet ebenso die polyphone Kunst der Alten mit dem neuen barocken Stil. Die vorliegende Aufnahme der von Rudolf Ewerhart zusammengestellten Partitur überzeugt durch Klangschönheit und einen lebendigen und ausdrucksvollen Musiziergestus. Matthew Halls, ein junger englischer Cembalist und Dirigent, animiert die Stuttgart Ensembles zu einem stilistisch treffenden und hoch differenzierten Musizieren. Deborah York, Daniel Taylor, Ed Lyon und Peter Harvey sind die exzellenten Solisten bei diesem unbekannten Meisterwerk.
