Critiques
marvelous performance by the Yale Schola Cantorum and the Yale Collegium Players. This disc is a must-have for scholars and performers. It serves as an insightful window into thoughtful Baroque performance-practice technique. Unlike many other Baroqu erecordings that offer up dry and sterile performances, this particular interpretation by the Yale ensembles is intricately designed and musically sensitive. …
(Brian E. Katona, Choral Journal, März 2012)
… It is a well thought-out compilation, the young yet mature sounding voices of Yale Schola Cantorum suiting the clarity of the writing under the masterly direction of Simon Carrington. The very competent soloists are drawn from the choir and the music flows seamlessly. Outstanding is the virtuosic playing of violinist Robert Mealy, who also directs the players: he throws off Biber's extremely difficult, ornate writing with an extraordinary depth of feeling and consummate ease.
