Motets

Les motets de Bach appartiennent depuis bien longtemps à ses œuvres les plus connues. Ils sont composés pour choeur de 4 à 8 voix, les motets à 8 voix étant écrits pour double-chœur. Il s'agit d'oeuvres longues, composées pour une occasion particulière, souvent pour des funérailles. Aux six motets bien connus s'est ajouté ces dernières années Ich lasse dich nicht BWV Anh. 159, très vraisemblablement une œuvre de jeunesse de J.S.Bach. Malgré la présence d'un accompagnement instrumental, on inclut à la série des motets le choral O Jesu Christ, meins Lebens Licht BWV 118.
