The Complete Organ Compositions
Silcher’s organ works derived from the same pedagogical approach as his vocal works. Their aim was to provide organ students with useful practice pieces. As well as original compositions by Silcher, the volume contains his organ arrangements of movements from Handel’s Messiah, Pergolesi’s Stabat mater, Mozart’s Requiem, and Beethoven’s Piano Sonata no. 15, op. 28.
Some of the pieces contain original fingering and pedalling and remain invaluable repertoire for organ teaching today.
