Kay Johannsen, the Stuttgart-based organist and conductor, enjoys a busy international career. His concert series “Bach:vokal” in the Stiftskirche Stuttgart – performances of the complete sacred works of J. S. Bach – enjoys recognition nationwide. Johannsen, however, is not only a successful conductor and church musician, he is also a productive and highly-regarded composer, as his new CD “Sunrise” demonstrates. It includes works for organ solo and for organ and orchestra.

Sunrise

Hurray for organists who have another choice for a concerto!
American Record Guide, Juli/August 2018

A most enjoyable recording.
American Record Guide, July/August 2018

Der Hörer begleitet das zugrundegelegte altehrwürdige Motiv (B-A-C-H) auf einer spannenden Reise durch sehr unterschiedliche Klangwelten, deren Vielfalt ihn in den Bann schlägt.
Michael Wersin, Rondo, 31.01.2018

One of the things I like most about Johannsen’s music is that it is playful...This is a wonderful CD...
