All works by César Franck
As not all choirs have the opportunity of being accompanied by a full-sized orchestra, back in 1976 Carus published César Franck’s five-minute setting of Psalm 150 firstly in a version with just organ, then in an arrangement for small instrumental ensemble, and most recently in the fully-scored original. Editions which “have won many fans for the work”, as press reviews confirmed. Meanwhile, Franck's opulent magnum opus Les Béatitudes has also been published by Carus in a modern, thoroughly researched Urtext edition. But here, too, the guiding principle of “from practical use for practical use” has been taken to heart: the edition offers many suggestions for practical performance with a smaller ensemble, based on the editor’s own experience.
