Weihnachtslieder für Kinder gesungen von Kindern
Most tellingly, Christmas songs render the joy and anticipation of children at Christmastime. The children’s choir “SingsalaSing” of the Landesakademie for young musicians in Baden-Württemberg, Ochsenhausen, sings 26 traditional and new yuletide songs from Germany and neighboring countries. These are especially suited to children in elementary school. The colorful and diverse arrangements are by Bobby Fischer, Markus Munzer-Dorn, Veit Hübner, Christoph Müller. This CD is an invitation to children and their families to join in singing together during the Advent and Christmas seasons.
This CD is part of the “Lieder project” which promotes and benefits singing with children. This project presents texts, music and recordings of songs to sing. It emphasizes quality and is designed especially for children. The goal is to once again focus on singing together in families. To date, 100 solo singers, vocal ensemble, choirs, instrumentalists and over 300 children have offered their time and talents to the Carus Lieder project. Profits derived from the sale of books and CDs in the Lieder project have now reached 400,000 Euros – these proceeds are being donated to causes which further singing with children.

Weigele has been Director of the State Academy for Young Musicians in Baden-Württemberg since 2002; he has also served on a voluntary basis on the Executive Committee of the State Music Council for many years. In addition, he has been working for many years as a choir director and voice coach at the State Academy, as well as at workshops, residential courses and training programmes for teachers. In 2014, he was awarded the Countess Sonja Memorial Prize by the ‘Singen mit Kindern’ Foundation in recognition of his work. He has recorded several CDs with his children’s choir, SingsalaSing. He is the author and editor of numerous songbooks and choir books – including the school choir book series "chorissimo!" published by Carus-Verlag – as well as articles and writings on the subjects of music, music education and music pedagogy. The children’s choir SingsalaSing is an ensemble of the "Landesakademie für die musizierende Jugend in Baden-Württemberg". For children between 6 and 10 it is intended that the joy of vocal expression be aroused through the singing together of lieder from the varied repertoire for children’s choir and through voice training. Moreover, SingsalaSing supports the continuing education programs of the Landesakademie. A number of works have already been dedicated to the choir, including “Großer Stern, was nun?” (Peter Schindler), “Magnificat” (Bobby Fischer) and several pieces by Uli Führe.
