Choral Songs – Sheet Music Editions
The masters of solo song, such as Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Cornelius, and Rheinberger, also composed magnificent choral songs and song cycles, which took their inspiration from folk song in the widest sense. Their distinguishing features include strophic form, the melodic line often given to the upper part, and a symmetrical structure. As in Brahms’s gypsy songs and Schumann’s romances and ballads, these choral songs are often based on folk song texts.
