The Missa latina is a complete setting of the Latin Mass for solo soprano, large mixed choir (SATB divisi as well as soloists from the choir) and a band consisting of violin, bandoneon (accordion), piano, double bass, drums and percussion. The word “latina“ not only refers to the Latin text, but also to the musical style which makes use of Latin-American rhythms. Thus elements from Argentinian tangos stand side by side with Caribbean rhythms and Latin jazz with enough space provided for instrumental improvisations.

Bobbi Fischer
| 1965Bobbi Fischer studied school music, jazz and popular music as well as film music at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart and the Filmhochschule Ludwigsburg and now works as a pianist and composer. He covers a broad spectrum of jazz, classical and popular music. In addition to compositions for film and theatre, he performs with various bands. For over 25 years, he toured with the music-comedy group Tango Five. Today he performs with his trio ‘Berta Epple’. He lives out his love of Argentine tango with the Raúl Jaurena Trio. In addition to the Carus publishing house, his clients include Musik der Jahrhunderte, the Stuttgart Philharmonic and the Landesakademie für die musizierende Jugend. He is a lecturer at various workshops.

... ein kraftvolles und temperamentvolles Werk ... Diese ganz verschiedenen Richtungen stehen manchmal beobachtend im künstlerischen Dialog gegenüber und manchmal völlig ineinander verschmolzen, gemeinsam voneinander lernend und auf eine neue zukünftigen Musiksprache blickend. Gerade diese unterschiedliche Herangehensweise macht das Werk aus ... Die Mischung der Stilistiken ist ein Gewinn, weil es leicht geht ... Eine eindrucksvolle Messe!
