  • Carl Martin Reinthaler, geb. 1822 in Erfurt, gest. 1896 in Bremen. Studierte Theologie und danach in Berlin bei A. B. Marx Musik; 1849 bis 1852 als kgl. Stipendiat in Paris und Rom. Ab 1857 wirkte er in Bremen. Durch sein vielfältiges Wirken u. a. als Musikdirektor, Domorganist und Leiter des Domchors prägte er das musikalische Leben der Stadt. Er wurde durch seinen Einsatz für J. Brahms bekannt, 1868 bereitete er die Uraufführung des Deutschen Requiems vor. Seine meist kirchlichen Kompositionen lassen in ihrem klaren Aufbau das Vorbild M.
