Portrait of the composer I and II
Erhard Karkoschka is not only a composer but he is also active throughout the world as a lecturer and conductor. The Composer Portraits I and II reflect the versatility and the breadth of his creative output. Traditional as well as modern aspects play and important role in his music. Thus he is equally at home working with Gregorian chant, in an atonal idiom or even using plain noise. Likewise, his instrumental music displays a wide range, from works for recorder, to electronic music: He employs an extensive spectrum of sound, which offers him multi-facetted possibilities for musical expression.
