Gioachino Rossini
| 1792-1868Gioachino Antonio Rossini was an Italian composer who is best known today for his operas. Rossini celebrated his first major successes in Venice in 1813 with the opera seria Tancredi and the opera buffa L'italiana in Algeri. The following years continued this success story. From 1830 onwards, Rossini largely withdrew from public life. Although he still composed many works, including the Stabat mater, he devoted most of his time to eating and enjoying life. During his lifetime, Rossini enjoyed enormous fame throughout Europe, but also, thanks to his apparently humorous and affectionate character, popularity among many of his colleagues. Personal details

Auf diese Rarität hinsichtlich der Besetzung sei ausdrücklich hingewiesen: Ein „Miserere” (Psalm 50) für Soli (TTB), Chor (TTB) und Orchester (Streicher und Bläser). Die bislang verschollene bzw. unter anderen Bezeichnungen firmierende frühe Komposition weist alle Kennzeichen des Rossinischen Stils auf: trotz des Textes ist die Musik stets melodisch elegant, der Begleitsatz zierlich und die Gestik opernhaft. Es wird viel Freude machen diese Musik zu singen, zumal die Chorsätze wenig anspruchsvoll sind und die Kehlenakrobatik den drei Solisten überlassen wird. Das Werk kann durchaus auch von kleineren Männerchören aufgeführt, und das Orchester entsprechend duftig besetzt werden.
