Johann Adam Hiller
| 1728-1804Attended school first in Görlitz and then at the Kreuzschule in Dresden, where he was a pupil of G. A. Homilius. 1751 studied in Leipzig, 1754 tutor to Count Heinrich von Brühl. Back in Leipzig in 1758, Hiller was active as a concert organiser, conductor, singing teacher and music publicist; he was the first director of the concerts held in the Gewandhaus from 1781. 1789 Thomas Cantor in succession to Johann Friedrich Doles. | 1961As a musicologist, Dr. Uwe Wolf is particularly at home in the 17th and 18th centuries. The focus of his work ranges from the time of Monteverdi and Schütz to Bach and the generation of Bach's sons and pupils through to Viennese Classicism.
