collected and edited by Johann Adam Hiller 1791

Between the publication of the fifth (1784) and sixth (1791) parts of the four-part Motets and arias for choirs, the editor, Johann Adam Hiller, was appointed Thomaskantor in Leipzig in 1789. This had a decisive impact on the last part of the collection: it is entirely geared towards the practice of a cantor and, for the first time, also covers liturgical functions.
