At the age of 17 Ann Mounsey Bartholomew got her first job as an organist in a church in London. She went on to work as a church musician in St. Vedast’s Church, Foster Lane for 53 years. She organized the ‘Crosby Hall Sacred Concerts’ – one of London’s most popular concert series for which Mendelssohn composed his famous “Hear my prayer” – and gave lessons in organ, piano and music theory. Ann Mounsey Bartholomew composed a large number of works for choir and solo voices, including an oratorio.
