Hilko Dumno

Personal details

Alongside piano lessons, Hilko Dumno was introduced to chamber music at an early age by his grandfather, who was a violinist. He studied piano at the Münster campus of the Hochschule für Musik Detmold with Gregor Weichert. He continued his studies with a postgraduate course in chamber music and lieder accompaniment with Rainer Hoffmann, Eugen Wangler and Tabea Zimmermann at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main. He regularly accompanies Hedwig Fassbender, Julia Kleiter, Henriette Meyer- Ravenstein, Christoph Prégardien, Georg Poplutz, Johannes Martin Kränzle, Hans-Jörg Mammel and Johannes Schendel, and has performed with these artists at the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, Styriarte, Schwetzingen Festival, Dresden Music Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Festival, Lucerne Festival, Amadeus Festival Geneva and the Alte Oper Frankfurt. As well as numerous live radio recordings in Germany and abroad, he has performed as piano accompanist on CDs including “Lieder von Liebe und Tod” by Richard Strauss with Hedwig Fassbender, “Die Mitternacht zog näher schon – Romantische Balladen” with Johannes Martin Kränzle, and Hugo Wolf’s “Italienisches Liederbuch” with Christoph Prégardien and Julia Kleiter. Since 2001 Hilko Dumno has taught lieder interpretation at the Musikhochschule in Frankfurt am Main and since 2009 also at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne.
