Personal details
The Jena organist Johann Nikolaus Bach (1669–1753), the eldest son of Johann Christoph Bach, was long believed to have been the composer of the Missa brevis "Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr", but this is now known to be a work by the Meiningen Court Kapellmeister Johann Ludwig Bach. The only composition undoubtedly by Johann Nikolaus Bach is the boisterous student music "Der Jenaische Wein- und Bierrufer".
