Matthias Röttger

Matthias Röttger (*1962) studied instrumental pedagogy with piano as his main subject in Münster, Catholic church music (A examination), final examinations in organ and choir conducting in Cologne. Since 1994, he has worked as a regional cantor for the archdiocese of Cologne for the district deanery of Mettmann, as well as organist and choirmaster at St Lambertus in Mettmann. There he built up an extensive choral programme with 6 children's and youth choirs, an adult choir, a senior citizens' choir, a vocal ensemble and a choral schola. As a regional cantor, he is the contact person for children's choirs in the archdiocese. With the children's choir working group, which he heads, he also supervises a children's choir director training programme.
