Raúl Jaurena

Raúl Jaurena, Bandoneon, is from Montevideo (Uruguay) and is one of the best-known and important virtuosos on his instrument. He now lives in New York. He has performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras and ensembles all over the world and has participated in numerous international music festivals. He worked closely together with Astor Piazzolla and performances together with the cellist YoYo Ma and the clarinetist Giora Feidman bear testimony to his skill. For a long time Jaurena was the musical director of the tango ensemble “New York – Buenos Aires Connection.” He is also active as a composer and arranger. He was awarded a Grammy in 2007 for his CD Te amo ­Tango in the category “Best Tango Album.”
