Stephan MacLeod studied singing firstly in his native city of Geneva, then in Cologne with Kurt Moll and in Lausanne with Gary Magby. During his studies in Cologne he enjoyed a fruitful collaboration with Reinhard Goebel and Musica Antiqua Koln. He has subsequently gone on to work regularly with renowned conductors and ensembles including Philippe Herreweghe, Masaaki Suzuki, Jordi Savall, Gustav Leonhardt, and the Huelgas Ensemble, where he was first bass for five years. His solo career has taken him to almost all the European countries, as well as to Israel, Japan, China, South America, the USA and Canada. Over 65 CD recordings reflect his artistic achievements. He is director and founder of the ensemble Gli Angeli Geneve, whose first CD in 2008 was named Editor’s Choice by Gramophone magazine. In 2013 he was appointed Professor of Singing at the Musikhochschule in Lausanne.
