Personal details

French composer, 1837-1924, Dubois studied at the Paris Conservatoire and was organist at the Invalides in Paris from 1855. He later became a choral conductor in Ste-Clotilde and organist at the Madeleine. From 1871 he taught harmony and from 1896 he was director of the Paris Conservatoire. Dubois composed 5 operas, 1 ballet and 2 oratorios (The Seven Words of Christ and The Lost Paradise), but above all numerous organ pieces.
