Traduction (abrégé): Sylvie CoquillatDavid Pohle (1624–1695) est originaire de Marienberg dans les monts Métallifères. Il est issu d’une famille de mineurs et de musiciens municipaux. On ne sait rien de sa formation et de sa jeunesse. De 1650 à 1652, il est instrumentiste à Kassel. En 1653, il se rend à la cour de Gottorf en Schleswig-Holstein. A partir de 1660, Pohle est « premier violon de la cour princière de Magdebourg », ainsi que « musicien de cour et directeur », et à partir de 1661 « maître de chapelle princier » à Halle (Saale). C’est ici qu’il écrit un cycle de cantates pour toute une année liturgique, où des vers bibliques alternent avec des textes nouveaux de David Elias Heidenreich (Geistliche Oden, Halle 1665). Translation: Peter PalmerDavid Pohle (1624–1695) was born in Marienberg in the Erzgebirge. He came from a family of miners and town pipers. Nothing is known about his education and youth. From 1650 to 1652 he was an instrumentalist in Kassel. In 1653 he went to the Gottorf court in Schleswig-Holstein. From 1660 Pohle was both “Princely Concertmeister of Magdeburg” and “Court musician and director,” and from 1661 “Princely Capellmeister” in Halle (Saale). Here he produced a cantata cycle for a complete ecclesiastical year in which verses from the Bible alternate with newly written texts by David Elias Heidenreich (Geistliche Oden, Halle, 1665). David Pohle (1624–1695) wurde während des 30-jährigen Krieges in Marienberg im Erzgebirge geboren. Er stammt aus einer Familie von Bergwerksarbeitern und Stadtpfeifern. Über seine Ausbildung und Jugendzeit ist nichts bekannt. Später war er als Instrumentalist, Kapellmeister und Komponist an diversen Fürstenhöfen im Norden Deutschlands tätig. Trotz seiner meist leitenden Positionen und eines reichen Schaffens wurde keines seiner Werke zu Lebzeiten publiziert. Von seinen Kompositionen sind überwiegend Geistliche Konzerte in deutscher und lateinischer Sprache sowie auch reine Instrumentalsonaten in unterschiedlicher Besetzung erhalten.

| 1624-1695David Pohle was born in Marienberg in 1624 and was a pupil of Heinrich Schütz, among others. During his lifetime, he was Kapellmeister in various places, including Merseburg, where he died in 1695. His extensive oeuvre is influenced by Heinrich Schütz.
