European Folk Songs
for mixed voices
Songs about the joys and sorrows of love, about dancing and celebrating are sung everywhere—from Greece to Norway, from Portugal to Russia. The choral collection European Folksongs, published by the choir association Europa Cantat, contains popular folk songs from 37 European countries arranged for mixed voices. In addition to traditional settings, many songs in new arrangements by contemporary composers have been included.
Every song is published in its original language and the collection includes German, English and French translations for each song. Spoken texts which are available on the Carus website will help in preparing the songs sung in foreign languages. Most of the songs were recorded by choirs from the respective countries. These recordings are available on all common streaming platforms. Most of the settings are also available in separate editions (in print or digital form).
