Die berühmte Tierfabel aus dem grimmschen Märchen ist zeitlos, weil sie auch heute noch Ansporn und Inspiration sein kann. Die von ihren Besitzern verstoßenen Tiere treffen sich auf dem Weg nach Bremen und schaffen durch ihren Ideenreichtum, ihren Zusammenhalt und ihren Mut das zunächst Unvorstellbare: Sie schaffen sich ein neues, gemeinsames Zuhause.

Günther Kretzschmar hat das Märchen in dieser szenischen Kantate einfühlsam in schwungvolle Musik überführt. Die Besetzung kann dabei flexibel angepasst werden: Die zweite Stimme im Kinderchor ist optional und die Besetzung des Orchesters kann reduziert werden. Auch eine Variante Chor + Klavier ist machbar. Prägnante Zwischentexte tragen die Handlung voran, sodass das Werk sowohl szenisch als auch konzertant aufgeführt werden kann.

  • Günther Kretzschmar studied music in Leipzig and Halle. After holding positions as a church musician for many years, he became a freelance composer in 1977 and directed the Bremen Children's Choir and the choir of the Bremen Music school.
    His commitment to youth music education is particularly noteworthy. His songs for children are known today and an integral part of the repertoire of many children's and youth choirs.
