Personal details
Günther Kretzschmar studied music in Leipzig and Halle. After holding positions as a church musician for many years, he became a freelance composer in 1977 and directed the Bremen Children's Choir and the choir of the Bremen Music school.
His commitment to youth music education is particularly noteworthy. His songs for children are known today and an integral part of the repertoire of many children's and youth choirs.
