Das Besondere an der Lichtmesse ist die Idee der Vielsprachigkeit: Schon im Introitus Auf, werde Licht! werden sechs Sprachen verwendet (Deutsch, Italienisch, Englisch, Spanisch, Französisch, Latein) und am Ende sogar zu einem 6-stimmigen Kanon zusammengeführt. Auch das Halleluja und der Schlussgesang Lebt als Kinder des Lichts folgen dem Prinzip der Mehrsprachigkeit und der Doppelchörigkeit. Als Begleitung für den vielstimmigen Chorsatz wurde eine Bläserbesetzung gewählt, die dem festlichen Charakter dieser groß-symphonisch angelegten Komposition Rechnung trägt. Gleichzeitig liegt eine Orgelfassung vor, die eine häufigere Realisierung in der Praxis möglich machen soll.

Thomas Gabriel
| 1957Thomas Gabriel was born in Essen, where he studied Catholic church music at the Folkwang University. After completing his A and concert exams, he worked as a regional cantor in various German dioceses. Since 1998, he has worked as a regional cantor in the diocese of Mainz for the Offenbach, Rodgau and Seligenstadt deaneries at the Einhard Basilica of St Marcellinus and St Peter in Seligenstadt. He performed extensively as an organist, harpsichordist and pianist. With his formations, the Christ Guys and the Thomas Gabriel Trio, he performs throughout Germany, abroad and in various radio and television productions. Personal details
