The Gayatri Mantra is one of the best-known and most frequently recited mantras in the Hindu tradition. It is understood as a prayer for enlightenment and spiritual clarity. The Polish composer Zuzanna Koziej has set the mantra to music for the choir of the interfaith festival “Musica Sacra International.” Her work impressively combines elements of traditional Indian music (mantra recitation and konnakkol) with European choral harmonies. The languages Sanskrit and German also alternate throughout. An exciting challenge for amateur choirs seeking distinctive repertoire.
