Gediminas Kalinas was born in 1973 in Šiauliai, Lithuania.

In 1988, he completed the piano programme at the Šiauliai Music School.

From 1991 to 1996, he studied at the Šiauliai University, where he received his Bachelor's degree in music pedagogy.

Since 1994, he works as a professional choir singer in the Šiauliai State Chamber Choir "Polifonija".

Since 2003, he teaches piano at the Šiauliai "Dainai" Music School.

Gediminas Kalinas mostly composes music for various choirs, ensembles and soloists. He also writes compositions for piano and other instruments.

In 2000, Kalinas had a collection of songs for children and youth published, with the title "Kas "cia buvo?" ("Who Was There?"). Songs from this collection were performed at numerous competitions, festivals and Lithuanian Schoolchildrens' Song Celebrations, and have also been included into the general education textbooks.

In 2004, he published a collection of songs under the title "Tykus vakars" ("A Serene Evening"), which includes his arrangements of Lithuanian folk songs and original compositions featuring folk song lyrics. Many songs from this collection have received awards at competitions for new choral works, organised by the Lithuanian National Cultural Centre and the Lithuanian Composers' Association.

In 2018, the third book of Kalinas’ works, a series of piano compositions, titled "Jaunimo albumas" ("Youth Album") was published. It comprises 20 short melodious piano pieces in various styles.
