Götz Payer first studied literature and philosophy before completing his piano studies at the Musik hochschule Lübeck with Gotlinde Sudau and Konrad Elser. This was followed by a course in song accompaniment in Irwin Gage’s master class in Zürich, which he completed with distinction. As a soloist and piano accompanist to numerous singers, he has given concerts throughout Europe und Asia, including performing at festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, the Menuhin Festival Gstaad, the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and the Rheingau Musik Festival. He has also performed as chamber music partner with groups including the King‘s Singers, Cantissimo, and the Amaryllis Quartet. He has played in various groups on several CDs and radio and television programs. As official accompanist on numerous master classes, he has worked with artists including Grace Bumbry, Renée Morloc, Ernst Haefliger, Kurt Moll, Matthias Goerne, Christoph Prégardien, James Wagner, Cornelius Hauptmann, Alberto Zedda, and Gerd Uecker. Götz Payer has taught lieder interpretation at the Musikhochschule Köln since 2009.
