Karl Michael Komma, born 24 December 1913 in Asch (Bohemia), died 2012 in Memmingen. Pupil of W. Fortner (composition), F. Langer (piano), G. Szell (conducting) and G. Becking (musicology), among others. 1940 Director of the Reichenberg Music School. 1954 lecturer in music history at the State University of Music in Stuttgart, from 1960 professor of composition, music theory and music history. After his retirement in 1978, he continued as a lecturer in church music history until 1988, with a lively activity as a composer, organist, chamber music and song accompanist and lecturer. In Reutlingen, he rendered outstanding services to the ‘Württemberg Philharmonic Orchestra’ and the music school. He founded the ‘Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde’ and the ‘Musica nova’ series, which he also directed for two decades.
