10) Is carus music offline usable?

Yes, off-line use is possible!

A stable Internet connection, at best WLAN/LAN is necessary to download carus music. You also have to be connected with the internet while downloading a work, because oft the high data volume most of the works can only be downloaded via WLAN/LAN.

After you have completely downloaded the work and the "Open" button has appeared, it is also available to you offline for practicing. Stay logged in to carus music and do not log out. Once you are offline, you can open the app as usual via the link https://carus-music.carus-verlag.com and find your purchased works under "My works". Click on the corresponding work and your purchased voice part. The message "No internet connection!" will now appear, but the "Open" button will still be available and the practice help can be used as usual.

Important to know: For offline use, use the same browser with which you downloaded the requested work (but this can be closed in between without any problems). Another requirement for offline use is that cached web content / cache data is not deleted when the browser is closed. Please check this in the settings of your browser if necessary.

All data required in order to run the work within the app is located in the database of the respective browser. Please note that this data cannot be copied by yourself to other devices or in other browsers.

11) I got a voucher for carus music. How can I activate this coupon code?

Log in to carus music with your webshop account (https://carus-music.carus-verlag.com). Create a webshop account if you have not yet registered. After logging in, you will be on the start page of the app ("My works"). Now click on your profile in the left-hand menu bar and then select "Enter code". Now enter the code and confirm with "Check code". Then select the desired pitch. After selecting your voice level, the "Activate" button will become available. Click on it to activate the output. The work will now be downloaded in the selected pitch and is ready for you to practice after clicking on "Open".

12) Why can’t I activate the code?

The coach is only available for choir parts. Make sure, you're in a choir part in the work you're using (marked as (Coro) in the table of contents) including your vocal range. If it's not possible to activate the coach, even though it's a choir part, please select menu - settings - voice and activate your voice to use the coach.

13) Why can’t I activate the slow mode?

The slow mode can only be activated if the coach is as well. As a first step you need to activate the coach, second you can activate the slow function.

14) There are two basso voices in the work. How can I switch the coach function from (f. e.) basso 1 into basso 2?

There's an edition for every vocal range in carus music. If there ist more than one choral part in the same vocal range (e.g. bass 1 and bass 2), you can use the three bars at the bottom left to open the menu and the menu item “Options”. After selecting it, a window opens in which the voice can be selected and saved.

15) Why does the coach sound slightly out of tune on some notes?

The coach is based on equal temperament tuning. This temperament is a compromise in which all notes are equally slightly out of tune. With performances of early music, other temperament systems are often used which involve other compromises. Frequently-used keys then sound more 'in tune', and less frequently-used keys 'less in tune' than in equal temperament. When there is a coming together of equal temperament (with the coach) and, for example, a meantone temperament (on the recording), this can result in a clearly perceptible difference in pitch on some notes. Even with unaccompanied singing a choir doesn't veer towards equal temperament, but towards a pure temperament, and thus the tuning can vary from the coach.

16) Why does the coach sound at a different pitch fromm y piano?

During the preparation process the pitch of the coach is adjusted to the recording. If the recording is, for example, recorded at a historical pitch (e.g. St. Matthew Passion is at about A=413 Hertz) the coach is adjusted to this pitch. This concert pitch differs from today's standard A=440 Hertz and sounds roughly a semitone lower.

17) carus music has problems downloading works after purchase. What should I do?

Please check whether you have a stable WLAN/LAN and your device is connected to the internet. Please ensure that sufficient (internal) storage is available on your device, and that the internet connection is not interrupted momentarily by device settings, e.g. power-saving mode or screen timeouts.

18) It takes a long time to actually open a work. Why is that?

There can be different factors causing long waiting times. Older devices and a bad internet connection are the mostly the reason for that. We are sorry, but we can not optimize the long waiting times, because carus music is a complex application with high data volume.

19) I bought the work in the wrong voice part. Can I return the issue or get the money refunded?

The right of revocation expires with the purchase of digital products (downloads) if the customer explicitly agrees that Carus begins with the execution of the contract i.e. with the provision of the digital data before the expiry of the revocation period begins, and the customer has confirmed their acceptance of this by their agreement that they lose their right of revocation with the beginning of the execution of the contract (see termins and conditions).

20) I want to search for a particular work and I get no results, or only previously-purchased works. What should I do?

Click on the menu item My works. Click on "Library" below to see the entire repertoire.

21) What ist he difference between carus music, the Choir Coach and the Carus Choir Coach (audio only)?

carus music is an app in which you can practice your choir part by means of synchronized music, recording and practice aids. Carus Choir Coach (audio only) contains only the audio recordings. The practice aid is included in normal tempo and in the slow mode. It is usually available as mp3-CD or as mp3-download.

23) In the app, the page turn is too late for my practice pace. How can I turn the page earlier?

Would you rather turn to the next page a little earlier during practice? With the "Scroll earlier" function, this is customizable for each work. Go to the corresponding work in the app and click on the "Options" item in the page menu. Here, select a value in milliseconds to customize the change. Save this setting and then reload the page.

24) When downloading, I get the message that there is missing space. However, there is enough space on my hard drive. What can I do?

All data necessary for the app for an issue are in the database of the respective browser. Therefore, it is not relevant how much memory you generally have on your PC, but how much memory is available in the database of your used browser. Therefore, please try to delete unnecessary cache or temporarily unused data from your browser to have more memory available. You can usually find these options in the "Settings" section of your browser. Here you can also delete carus music works that you are not currently using. These can be downloaded again up to 5 years after purchasing the app edition with a stable internet connection.

you use Firefox as your browser, please note the following special feature: Regardless of the memory actually available in the system, each web page in Firefox initially has a maximum of 2 GB available. If a work is downloaded that exceeds this memory limit, then an error message should appear. Clicking on "Request memory" will attempt to request more memory from the browser. This must be confirmed with in a popup window that now appears. Afterwards the work can be downloaded again. If necessary, a previous reload of the page is helpful. If the error message still appears, we recommend switching to another browser.

25) Is carus music an access platform for digital sheet music?

No. carus music is designed and optimized as a practice aid for practicing your own singing voice in the choir. The passage to be practiced in the music text is enlarged in sections according to the course of the audio track during practice.

26) I don't hear any sound (anymore) when I play my works. Why is that?

Check the mute function on your device as it may be activated. Apps such as YouTube, Netflix or similar will override the mute function, so you will not necessarily notice if it is activated.

You can also mute websites in your browser. Please check the settings here to see if a corresponding check mark has been set.

I can't hear any sound (any more) when I play my works. What is the reason for this?
