LIEDERPROJEKT

Children love to sing – movement songs bring energy to the day, silly songs and tongue twisters quickly lift the mood, and lullabies help relax and calm. Good breathing, movement, ear training, and language development – singing makes children stronger! However, children also need opportunities to sing, guidance, and age-appropriate communication. For this, they need parents, grandparents, teachers, and caregivers.

The LIEDERPROJEKT offers lyrics, sheet music, and song recordings for singing together, all carefully prepared with quality and child-friendliness in mind. The goal is to re-establish singing in society, with a variety of offerings on CDs, in songbooks, on the radio and online, that bring joy to both children and adults alike.

The LIEDERPROJEKT is a charity initiative for singing with children, run by Carus and SWR 2. So far, over 200 outstanding concert and opera singers, vocal ensembles, choirs, instrumentalists, and more than 300 children have contributed to the project with recordings. From the sales of the CDs, over 465,000 euros have been donated to projects that promote singing with children (as of Fall 2019). The Federal President has honored the project as part of the "Germany. Land of Ideas" initiative.
