Anlässlich seines 90. Geburtstages erscheint die vorliegende Festschrift ­Günter ­Graulich. Chorleiter und Musikverleger, in der Weggenossinnen und Weggenossen sich an ihre Begegnungen mit ihm erinnern und schildern, wie es zu den gemein­samen Projekten kam. Günter Graulich, geboren 1926, gehört zu den großen deutschen Verleger­persönlichkeiten der Nachkriegszeit. Als Gründer des Carus-Verlag Stuttgart trug er wesentlich dazu bei, das Repertoire der Chormusik, insbesondere der geistlichen Chormusik, zu erweitern. Viele Werke des Barock, der ­Wiener Klassik und der ­Romantik wurden durch ihn der Musikpraxis zugänglich ­gemacht. Dass die geist­lichen Chorwerke Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdys und Josef Gabriel Rheinbergers heute fest im Konzertleben verankert sind, ist mit sein Verdienst. Günter Graulich initiierte wegweisende Chorsammlungen für Liturgie und Konzert, viele in enger ­Zusammenarbeit mit kirchlichen und weltlichen Chorverbänden in aller Welt. Das von ihm ins Leben gerufene ­CD-Label Carus trägt mit erstklassigen Einspielungen wesentlich zur Verbreitung der von ihm verlegten Chormusik bei. Günter ­Graulich leitete über 50 Jahre den Motettenchor Stuttgart, mit dem er neues Repertoire ­erprobte und die dort gewonnenen Erfahrungen dann in die Veröffentlichungen bei Carus einfließen lassen konnte.

  • Frieder Bernius’s work has earned great worldwide recognition. He is in demand internationally as a conductor and as a teacher. His principal artistic collaborators are the ensembles he founded himself, the Kammerchor Stuttgart, the Barockorchester Stuttgart, the Hofkapelle Stuttgart and the Klassische Philharmonie Stuttgart. As a guest conductor, he has collaborated repeatedly with, for example, the SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester and the Streicherakademie Bozen. Great stylistic versatility is Frieder Bernius’s hallmark. Whether he conducts vocal works by Monteverdi, Bach, Händel, Mozart, Beethoven, Fauré and Ligeti, stage music by Mendelssohn or symphonies by Haydn, Burgmüller and Schubert, his work always aims for a sound that is at once unmistakably personal and at the same time oriented towards the original period sound ideal. He devotes himself equally to the rediscovery of 18th century operas and to first performances of contemporary compositions.   • Peter Thalheimer studied recorder, flute (with Prof. Hartmut Strebel) and school music in Stuttgart. He completed his musicological studies with a doctorate at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität of Tübingen. He has taught in Nuremberg since 1978, and is currently professor of historical performance practice and recorder/transverse flute at the Hochschule für Musik Nuremberg. Concerts, radio and recording productions, courses and lectures he has given have taken him throughout Europe and the USA. In addition, his work has resulted in numerous music editions, as well as publications on performance practice, the study of instruments and on woodwind technique.   • The choral conductor, composer and musicologist Clytus Gottwald (1925 - 2023) made significant contributions to contemporary choral music. As editor for New Music at Südfunk Stuttgart and founder and director of the Schola Cantorum Stuttgart, he was in productive exchange with his contemporaries, Pierre Boulez, Mauricio Kagel, György Ligeti, Luigi Nono, Karlheinz Stockhausen and many others. With his Schola Cantorum, a 16-voice chamber vocal ensemble, Gottwald decisively shaped the a cappella choral culture of the highest technical level that is taken for granted today. Clytus Gottwald's transcriptions of piano songs and instrumental pieces for unaccompanied choir are appreciated by choirs all over the world. Modelled on the style of Ligeti, his works set the highest of musical standards. Clytus Gottwald has received several awards for his services, including the Cultural Prize of Baden-Württemberg in 2009, the European Church Music Prize in 2012, and the Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2014.   • Conductor Hans-Christoph Rademann is an immensely versatile artist with a broad repertoire who devotes himself with equal passion and expertise both to the performance and rediscovery of early music and to the first performances and cultivation of Contemporary Music. Born in Dresden and raised in the Erzgebirge mountains, he was influenced at an early age by the great Central German kantorial and musical tradition. He was a student at the traditional Kreuzgymnasium, a member of the famous Kreuzchor, and studied choral and orchestral conducting at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden. During his studies, he founded the Dresdner Kammerchor and formed it into a top international choir which is still under his direction today. Since 2013, Hans-Christoph Rademann has been the academy director of the International Bach Academy Stuttgart. He regularly collaborates with leading choirs and ensembles of the international music scene. From 1999 to 2004 he was chief conductor of the NDR Choir and from 2007 to 2015 chief conductor of the RIAS Chamber Choir. Guest conducting engagements have led and continue to lead him to the Nederlandse Bachvereniging, the Collegium Vocale Gent, the Akademie für Alte Musik, the Freiburger Barockorchester, the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern, the Sinfonieorchester Basel, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg, among others.   • Martina Graulich, violin, has a special interest in early music, which led to her joining the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra. In 2003 the Ensemble Ciacona was founded which specializes in Bohemian, Italian and German violin music of the 17th and 18th centuries. Martina Graulich has been invited as a teacher to the Encontros de Musica da Casa de Mateus in Portugal. She has made numerous CD recordings, including the London Symphonies (Haydn) in the arrangement for quintet by Solomon with the Camerata of the 18th Century, Amsterdam.   • Composer, pianist and organist Peter Schindler writes and performs music for ballets and theatrical performances, films and dramatic recordings, instrumental and choral arrangements, chansons and sacred works. He is particularly passionate about his compositions for children and young adults, which has come to comprise hundreds of humourous children’s songs (Kinderhits mit Witz).   • Friedhilde Trüün studierte Kirchenmusik in Herford sowie Stimmbildung und Gesang bei Prof. Kurt Hofbauer in Wien. Während ihrer Berufstätigkeit als Kantorin und Gesangspädagogin beschäftigte sie sich intensiv mit der Stimme von Kindern und Jugendlichen und gilt heute als Expertin in diesem Bereich. Sie war nach ihrer Tätigkeit als Kirchenmusikerin in Reutlingen Dozentin an der Landesakademie in Ochsenhausen von 2003-2008. Ab 2010 bis 2018 war sie als Honorar-Professorin an der Hochschule für Kirchenmusik in Tübingen für Kinderchorleitung und -stimmbildung tätig. Außerdem hat sie bis 2015 als konzeptionelle Mitarbeiterin bei dm Drogeriemarkt die „Singenden Kindergärten“ deutschlandweit mitgestaltet. Seit 2009 ist sie freiberuflich tätig und leitet heute an der Musikschule Tübingen den gemischten Jugendchor und den Teeniechor und hat die Leitung des Erwachsenenchores Notabene e.V. Weiterhin gibt sie an Hochschulen und Universitäten Seminare und Kurse zur Stimmbildung- und Kinderchorarbeit.

    Sie ist Autorin der Stimmbildungsbücher für Kinder und Jugendliche Singsang Song I-III für Kinder und Jugendliche, erschienen beim Carus-Verlag; initiiert, konzipiert und leitet die Mitsingprojekte SingBach, SingRomantik und SingBeethoven; wohnhaft in Tübingen.

  • The publisher, church musician and teacher Günter Graulich is one of the major personalities in German publishing of the post-war period. With his wife Waltraud he founded Carus-Verlag Stuttgart in 1972, which he built up from a 2-person family firm to a medium-sized business with around 60 employees. A trained church musician and Kantor for many years at the Matthäuskirche Stuttgart, he also directed the Motettenchor Stuttgart for 50 years.
