Hans Jörg Mammel, tenor, studied in Freiburg under Werner Hollweg and Ingeborg Most. In Germany and other European countries he has been known for many years as a concert and opera singer. He has sung at many leading festivals (Utrecht, Schwetzingen, Schleswig- Holstein, Jerusalem, Bruges, and Vienna) under conductors including Hengelbrock, Kuijken, Fischer, Herreweghe, and Bolton. He has also attracted great attention as a Lied singer, not least through his successful CD recordings. Apart from the great lieder cycles of the Romantic period, he has a special interest in composers of the Second Berlin Lieder School.
