Hans Jörg Mammel

Personal details

Hans Jörg Mammel, tenor, studied in Freiburg under Werner Hollweg and Ingeborg Most. In Germany and other European countries he has been known for many years as a concert and opera singer. He has sung at many leading festivals (Utrecht, Schwetzingen, Schleswig- Holstein, ­Jerusalem, Bruges, and Vienna) under conductors including Hengelbrock, Kuijken, Fischer, Herre­weghe, and Bolton. He has also attracted great attention as a Lied singer, not least through his successful CD recordings. Apart from the great lieder cycles of the Romantic period, he has a special interest in composers of the Second Berlin Lieder School.
